This Privacy Policy applies to all products and websites operated by GlenKit ("we", "us"), including the GlenSum browser extension (also known as "AI精炼" in Chinese markets) and the SimpleRead browser extension, and the website glenkit.com.
The short version: our products store your data locally in your own browser. We do not operate user accounts, we do not sell or share your data, and we cannot read your prompts, highlights or settings because they never reach our servers.
Our browser extensions store the following data using your browser's local storage APIs:
This data remains on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and it is removed when you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data.
GlenSum does not run AI models on our servers. When you summarise or refine a page, the relevant text is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you have configured — for example, the provider whose API key you entered, or the free model providers built into the extension. We never receive, store or process the pages you visit or the content you summarise.
Our server's only role is licence activation: when you activate a Pro licence, our server receives your activation code and a device identifier to verify it. It does not receive page content.
We deliberately collect as little as possible:
For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, our legal bases under the GDPR are: contract (processing your email to deliver a licence you purchased), legitimate interests (replying to support requests, preventing abuse), and consent (any optional communication, which you may withdraw at any time).
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@glenkit.com. Because we store almost no data on our side, most requests can be fulfilled immediately. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Emails and support correspondence are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for up to 24 months afterwards. Purchase records are kept as required by tax and accounting rules applicable to our Merchant of Record.
Our products are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. Material changes will also be announced on this page before they take effect.
